October 12-20, 2018
Six new works by Mathias Poledna will be on view in the restaurant Le Hangar as part of Paris Avant- Première. These are a further exploration of a single character and motif used in Poledna’s film Imitation of Life, which premiered at the Austrian Pavilion in the Venice Bienniale in 2013. Poledna worked with animators in Los Angeles to hand draw the pictures, a labor intensive technique from the early years of animation. Each new picture shows the same figure of a bird holding a unique flower. This project explores the relationship between art and its environment as well as the role of image making in the contemporary age.
